In this tutorial, we’ll learn how to use Quick Edit to change part of an image without generating it again, and how versions keep every edit of an asset together.
Open an image in the lightbox and click Quick Edit. The image loads straight into the editor, with the tools in a sidebar on the right.
What you will learn
- Edit an image from a prompt, inside a mask, or on selected objects
- Save each edit as a version, and compare them
- Extract a character from an image
The AI tools
Prompt
Describe the change, pick a model and click Generate. Each Generate makes a new take: step through them with the arrows, then click Done to keep one. Type @ to add a snippet, like a colour palette.
Inpaint
To change one area only, draw around it with the lasso and click Done. Then describe the change and generate, or click Remove to erase what’s inside. The result is merged back into the mask, so the rest of the image stays as it was.
Select object
For an exact outline, type the name of something in the image, like bubbles, and click Select. Every match is selected: click the ones you don’t want to leave them out, then click Done. You can then Inpaint the selection, Remove it, or Extract it as a new image.
Versions
Every edit you save becomes a new version of the same asset, not a new image. The gallery keeps one card for it, with a badge for the number of versions, and the lightbox lists them all: compare any two with the slider, or make an earlier one the active version again.
Versions follow the asset through the rest of the app. Load a versioned image into an input and you can pick any of its versions, or switch to the active one in one click with Update. The same goes for a generation you reload: if one of its references has a newer version since, like a character with a new outfit, Hylope shows it, and one click brings it in.
Extract a character
Select woman, click Done, then Extract. The character is saved to your gallery as a cutout with a transparent background, ready to load in an input: here, as the character of an Avatar mode character sheet.
