Workspaces & teams

Personal and team workspaces, the Owner and Member roles, project access, invitations and data regions.

A workspace holds your projects, your assets and your credits. Every account has a personal workspace. A team workspace is shared by several people and runs on the Team plan.

Personal workspace Team workspace
People You alone The Owner and the members, up to 20
Plan Free, Basic, Plus or Pro Team
Credits Your own balance One balance shared by everyone
Projects All yours Each member sees the projects the Owner opens to them

Plans, credits and invoices belong to a workspace, not to a person. See Plans & credits.

Switch workspace

When you belong to more than one workspace, the workspace selector appears in the header. Pick a workspace to switch to it: the projects, the gallery and the credit balance change with it. Your personal workspace is listed first.

Data region

Each workspace stores its data in one region: its database and its files stay there.

Region Best for
Europe Europe, the Middle East and Africa
Asia-Pacific Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and nearby regions
North America The United States, Canada and Mexico

You choose the region of your personal workspace when you sign up. It cannot be changed later. A team workspace is created in the same region as its Owner’s personal workspace.

Roles

In your personal workspace, you are the Owner. A team workspace has two roles:

Role What they can do
Owner Everything: the Team plan and billing, invitations and members, creating projects, project settings and access, deleting the workspace.
Member Works in the projects the Owner gives them access to, with the access level set for each project.

Project access

A member sees only the projects they have been added to. For each project, the Owner sets one of three levels in the project’s settings, under Access:

Access What the member can do
Creator Generate and change the project’s content.
Viewer See the project and its assets, read-only.
No access The project does not appear.

A member with no project yet sees a message asking them to contact the Owner. See Projects & folders for the details.

Create a team workspace

  1. Start the Team plan

Open Team from the account menu and click Start Team plan. You can also choose Team under Plans in Billing.

  2. Name the workspace

Give the team workspace a name. If your personal workspace has a paid plan, choose what happens to it: keep it, and both subscriptions are billed separately, or Cancel it at the end of the billing period. Your personal workspace then keeps its credits until the period ends and moves to Free.

  3. Pay and invite

Continue to checkout opens the payment page. Once the Team plan is active, invite your members.

You can own one team workspace. Accounts on beta access cannot create one.

Invite members

In Team, type an email address under Invite a member and click Invite. Only the Owner invites, and the Team plan must be active.

  • The invitation is valid for seven days. It shows as Pending until it is accepted. Resend sends the email again, Revoke cancels it.
  • A pending invitation holds a seat until it is accepted, revoked or expires.
  • Remove takes a member out of the workspace.

The person invited opens the link, signs in or creates an account, and joins the workspace as a Member. Their personal workspace stays separate. Someone new to Hylope also picks the region of their own personal workspace; the team workspace keeps its region. After they join, the Owner gives them access to projects.

Working together

  • Everyone spends from the same credit balance.
  • A job in progress shows who started it.
  • Only the Owner can buy credits or change the plan for the workspace.

Delete workspace, at the bottom of Team, removes the team workspace and all its assets. Only the Owner sees it.
